nbn™ users in the regional areas can now say hello to a better and more reliable satellite internet service this new year as NBN Co introduces the Sky Muster™ Plus! Scheduled to roll out on the second quarter of the year (April-June), the new service is meant to help meet the ever-growing need of consumers for more data.

So, what does Sky MusterTM Plus entails and how does it benefit the customers?

  • It gives you more data capacity!
    • This means data allowance exemptions will be provided to key functional uses of the nbn™ access network.
  • It will help deliver faster download speeds!
    • This is made possible by giving providers access to a system that may aid key software and services to perform and deliver better.

Too technical? What this means, basically, is this: “…when they [customers] exhaust their monthly data allowance, wholesale download speeds will not be slowed down for regular web activities like accessing emails or internet banking.” (Stephen Rue, The nbn™ Project 2018)

As per nbn™, online activities such as gaming and video streaming will still continue to contribute to the overall monthly data limit of subscribers. This means that once you’ve reached the cap, you will start to have limited connection speed as they are now. But what’s nice is that you can still continue to use the unmetered essential services in your original plan speed! Now you don’t have to worry about that e-mail you wish to send to your loved ones, or that one bank statement you forgot to check!
