Harbour ISP proudly sponsors the Macquarie Uni Sydney Rays
After a hugely successful season in 2016, when the Macquarie University Sydney Rays reached the semi-finals of the National Rugby Competition for the first time in their history, 2017 is shaping up to be a closely fought contest! Now in round 6, all of the teams can still reach the finals, so this weekend the Macquarie University Sydney Rays will be determined to secure their spot versus Brisbane City at Pittwater Rugby Park, 3pm Sunday.
Not only will the team look to further their success with a serious challenge for the title this year, but also the Rays have extended their franchise by launching a Women’s Sevens team into a brand new National Competition.
The Macquarie University Sydney Rays is one of the few teams that really challenge the traditional sporting landscape by truly integrating their high-performance program, which will see the distinct Harlequins jersey worn with pride by men and women alike.
The inaugural Aon National University Sevens Series saw Women’s Sevens teams from eight universities across five states and territories compete in four tournaments, one of which was held at Macquarie University.
The university teams took to the field with a mix of National Players, Rio Medallists, aspiring youngsters, and some Rookies too! The Macquarie University Sydney Rays saw both gold medallist Chloe Dalton and Dominique Du Toit, fresh from their hugely successful international campaign, line up with an exciting new squad, some of whom were spotted at the Talent ID earlier in the season.
The Macquarie University Sydney Rays Women’s 7s team performed brilliantly at all four tournaments, achieving a silver medal in two and a bronze in one, giving them the bronze medal position overall. Importantly, two of the talented squad reached the Aussie 7’s Head Coach, Tim Walsh’s “dream team” with the promise of a successful pathway ahead of them!
Harbour ISP is proud to be involved with supporting young talent, in particular, emerging women in sports. We wish both teams the best of luck as they wrap up the rugby season!
